Spokane MARCOM to Present 16th Annual SPARK Awards

The Spokane Regional Marketing and Communications Association (Spokane MarCom) presents the 16th Annual Spark Awards on Thursday, April 21st, 6pm, at The Lincoln Center, recognizing the best and brightest achievements of the local marketing and communications community. Spokane Indians Hiring Game Day Staff for Upcoming Season

The Spokane Indians are looking for energetic, outgoing individuals to join the team for this season. Interested applicants can attend the Spokane Indians Annual Job Fair this Saturday, April 16 from 10am to 12pm at Avista Stadium at the Spokane County Fair & Expo Center. The job fair will consist of a 30 minute tour of the facility and will be given descriptions of the open positions. Applicants are asked to bring a resume to the Job Fair. Free Cone Day at Ben & Jerry's Tomorrow

Ben & Jerry's Scoop Shop in River Park Square will be giving away over 7000 fre ice cream cones tomorrow, April 12, from 12 noon to 8pm, to benefit Safety Net with the help of many great local celebrities. This annual event is a way to say thanks to those who have supported the company since the beginning, and to raise donations for Safety Net of Spokane, a nonprofit program that supports local foster children who have 'aged out of the system' at the age of 18. Valley Hospital Announces Advisory Council for Healthy Woman Program

Valley Hospital and Medical Center has announced the names of eighteen select women who will lead the advisory council for the hospital's Healthy Woman program. A comprehensive health education program, Healthy Woman is a free community resource offered jointly by Valley Hospital and Deaconess Medical Center. Monthly Healthy Woman events are designed to improve the emotional, physical and fiscal well-being of women and their families. The program includes free seminars, health fairs, education programs and interactive events focusing on women.

"The women who make up this council are leaders in our community in a variety of ways," said Valley chief executive officer Dennis Barts. "Through their civic, volunteer and community involvement, these diverse women are ambassadors for other women in their leadership roles, proactive community interest and progressive thinking."

The Healthy Woman Advisory Council includes: Dr. Susan Ashley of Family Medicine Liberty Lake; Becky Barts of Eastern Washington Adventist Schools; Kristen Bennett of University of Phoenix; Rebekah Boone of Beyond Beautiful Aesthetics; Christine Cochran of Pheasant Hill Inn; Mandy Desgrosellier of Washington Trust Bank; Jill Fix of Rockwood Clinic; Marti Hollenback of Dishman Dodge; Dr. Deborah Martinez of Rockwood Clinic Breast Health Center; Dr. Renu Sinha of Rockwood Clinic Vein Center; Mayor Wendy Van Orman of the City of Liberty Lake; Sherri Delio, Dr. Lori Joy, and Dr. Olivia Sementi, all of Valley Obstetrics & Gynecology, P.S.; Jackie Bassett, Lisa Noland, Jamie Snowhill and Sasha Jackowich, all of Valley Hospital. The group is led by Stephanie Wells, Healthy Woman program coordinator for Valley Hospital.

Spokane's Premier Home Improvement Show this weekend.

Upcoming Golf Scramble this June

The Armed Forces & Aerospace Museum will host its 10th annual Golf Scramble on Friday, June 3, 2011 at Downriver Golf Course. All proceeds will help support the building of the Armed Forces & Aerospace Museum located on the west plains overlooking Interstate 90. Registration starts at 11:30 am with a shotgun start at 1:30 pm. Registration of $100 includes green fees, power cart, awards dinner and the opportunity to win a Ford Mustang from Gus Johnson Ford or a golf cart from Frank & Sherry Knott. Bryn West new center manager at River Park Square

River Park Square announced the appointment of Bryn West, CMD as Center Manager. The transition will focus West's duties and the day-to-day operation of the Downtown Spokane Shopping Center, while she assists with the responsibilities associated with the leasing of retail space. Ms. West received a Business degree from Saint Mary's College of California and an MBA from Western Washington University. She is a Certified Marketing Director (CMD), a member of Spokane's MarCom Association, and a Certified Tourism Ambassador.

Gunning Hired by Numerica Business Services

Chris Gunning was recently hired as a Business Banking Relationship Officer at Numerica Credit Union. She has worked in the banking industry for 20 years. She has a bachelor's degree in business and was previously employed at Intermountain Community Bank.

The Passing of Ted Bravakis

Ted Bravakis, former KXLY General Sales Manager, passed away on Saturday. Ted was a remarkable man who was a well-respected and admired member of our community. As a World War II pilot, Ted heroically flew many combat missions in Europe. Ted later went to work at KXLY TV in 1964 as a Sales Account Executive and semi-retired in the mid 1980's as General Sales Manager. He continued to work with KXLY in a consultant capacity until just a few years ago. Ted is the father of Teddie Gibbons, current Vice President and TV station manager of KXLY.
