Business is great at Valpak

Valpak is having a very strong 2012, not just in Spokane, but also nationwide. All the media attention with digital deals, along with the new digital product deals introduced locally from broadcast and print media have raised awareness in the Valpak digital network as well. Valpak.com went live in 1998 and continues to be one of the top online destinations for discounts from local businesses.

Valpak mobile apps are also very popular, with over 17 million coupons downloaded every month. What this means for Spokane businesses is that their familiar blue envelope continues to be mailed monthly to target neighborhoods, and digital products are targeted by zip code from Moses Lake to Missoula.

Liberty Lake Gets Much Needed Foot and Ankle Care

The Spokane Foot Clinic is celebrating the May 3rd opening of their new clinic in Liberty Lake. The decision to open the Liberty Lake office came after months of deliberation.

With three clinics in the Spokane area, one in Ritzville, and one in Deer Park, this will be the Spokane Foot Clinic's sixth location. The clinic is located at 2207 N. Molter Rd. Ste. 101 in Liberty Lake. They share office space with Dr. Timothy Manson's Family and Sports Medicine practice and North Idaho Dermatology. They will be open every Thursday morning with the possibility of extending their hours in the future as the number of patients increases.

The new location will be able to offer Liberty Lake residents the same level of care they can receive at the Spokane locations. From initial evaluations and conservative treatments to more complex surgical procedures, Spokane Foot Clinic is equipped to handle all foot and ankle related issues.

The first Spokane Foot Clinic was opened in Spokane in 1982 by Dr. Douglas Romney. Since then, three more ankle and foot specialists have joined the practice, each splitting their time between offices to better serve their patients. They perform surgeries at all area hospitals as well as at the surgery center at 123 W. Francis in north Spokane. To learn more about the Spokane Foot Clinic or to schedule an appointment, visit www.spokanefoot.com.

Uncommon Gifts at the MAC

As in most museums, the vast collections at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture exist for the enjoyment and education of their communities. They grow through philanthropy guided by a common framework. Upcoming exhibit, 'Uncommon Gifts,' focuses on seven artists with Inland Northwest ties whose work has been collected by the MAC since the 1960s and unwraps a decades-long story of philanthropy and collecting contemporary Northwest art.

Opening June 9, this exhibition is the third in a series that draws from the MAC's permanent art collection responding to visitors' frequent request to see more of the museum's vast collections.

The exhibit highlights a major gift of artworks from the SAFECO Insurance Company, a member of the Liberty Mutual Group. After its acquisition by Liberty Mutual Group in 2008, many wondered what would become of arguably the most important corporate collection of Northwest art. The gift transferred the ownership of 840 works to the Washington Art Consortium whose members are: Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture, Spokane; the Museum of Art, Washington State University; Seattle Art Museum, Tacoma Art Museum, Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington; and Whatcom Museum of History and Art and the Western Gallery, Western Washington University both in Bellingham.

The gift, worth an estimated $3.5 million, according to the Seattle Times, includes nearly 500 works on paper, 130 on canvas and panel, and more than 180 three-dimensional objects such as glass, ceramic, bronze, and mixed media, including pieces by internationally known Northwest artists Jacob Lawrence, Fay Jones, Morris Graves, Barbara Thomas, and George Tsutakawa. Well-known in the local art community for its strength in contemporary Northwest art, the Safeco collection encompasses a diversity of philosophies, ideas, and cultural backgrounds.

The Business Thought of the Week

"May today there be peace within.
May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be.
May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others.
May you use the gifts you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you.
May you be content with yourself just the way you are.
Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise and love. It is there for each and every one of us." Mother Teresa of Calcutta
