Local Dressing Chosen as Official 'Wing Bowl' Dip

As the nation turns its attention to Football, Uncle Dan's Blu Cheese from Spokane will be center stage at 'Wing Bowl 21' in Philadelphia.

In 1992, Local Philadelphia DJ's realized the Eagles would never make it to the Super Bowl. Instead, they created 'Wing Bowl' to celebrate the Super Bowl of eating. This year Chris Stephens from Uncle Dan's Authentic Salad Dressing Mixes from Spokane will be supplying the Blu Cheese the contestants will be drowning their wings in.

Wing Bowl 21 will be on Friday the 1st of February at the Wells Fargo Center in Philidelphia. Last year, over 21,000 people attended the event to cheer on 30 contestants. The winner was Takeru Kobayasi (pictured) who set a Wing Bowl record by eating 337 wings in an hour.

In 2012 contestants ate over 6000 wings in one hour, so Uncle Dan's is making LOTS of Blu Cheese dressing.

National Girl Scout Cookie Day is February 8 and thousands of local Girl Scouts are gearing up for the Cookie Program with annual cookie rallies, which began council wide this past Saturday, January 26.

New Gonzaga University School of Law program provides low-cost family law help

Family law practice is one of the highest demand areas of law, and lawyers who volunteer their time through the Spokane County Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyers Program address hundreds of cases each year. The new Gonzaga University School of Law FLASH program will give these pro bono lawyers a helping hand while providing law students a chance to get hands-on training and experience in a frequently overlooked area of law.

Family Law Attorney and Student Help (FLASH) is a pilot program launched this year by Gonzaga Law's Center for Law In Public Service. The FLASH program is designed to benefit the community by increasing the availability of free or low-cost family law assistance. The program also benefits students with opportunities to receive specialized training while working directly with family law cases that are expected to have an immediate impact in the community.

Individuals in need of legal assistance from the Volunteer Lawyers Program should apply through the Northwest Justice Project's centralized intake and referral service (CLEAR) available at nwjustice.org/get-legal-help.

For more information, contact Andrea Parrish, digital media specialist at Gonzaga University School of Law, at 509-313-3771 or via e-mail at aparrish@lawschool.gonzaga.edu.
