Spokane SCORE Workshop March 6

Learn how to start a business. Spokane SCORE Chapter 180 will present a class on How to Start a New Business, this Wednesday, March 6 from 8:30am to 12:30pm. The Workshop will be at the SBA Training Room at 801 W Riverside, Suite 444 in downtown Spokane.

You'll learn step-by-step consideration of legal, tax, insurance, accounting, business planning, and funding topics that you need to address to successfully start a business.

NAWBO March Chapter Meeting: Succession Planning

The National Association of Women Business Owners Inland Northwest will hold this month's meeting on Thursday, March 14 at the Lincoln Center, 1316 N. Lincoln St. in Spokane. Networking begins at 5pm, Dinner and presentation starts at 6pm.

Brent Soloway, ChFC Financial Planner at MetLife will speak on Succession Planning. Transitioning out of a business is a complex and personally challenging process; it's important to have a plan. Five important issues when planning to transition a business will be discussed.
1. Pre-sale planning, or lack thereof
2. Determining the 'Fair Market Value' of your business
3. Planning for contingencies; disability, death, divorce, disagreements among partners, retirement
4. Cash flow planning after exit from your business
5. Appropriate business and estate planning documents.

The 2013 Addy Awards are coming March 15

Join the American Advertising Federation Spokane to celebrate the year's best local advertising, marketing and design from around the region at the 2013 Addy Awards on Friday, March 15 at the Garland Theater, 924 W Garland Ave. Doors open at 6pm, show starts at 7pm.

The ADDY Awards Competition is open to any individual, company or organization engaged in the creation of advertising. There are currently 16 Divisions. Gold and Silver ADDY awards may be awarded in each category of competition at the discretion of the judges. All local winners are forwarded to the District XI ADDY Awards Competition.

After the awards ceremony, the party continues at Nyne Bar & Bistro. Enjoy half off your first drink when you show your Addy ticket at the bar.

Inland NW Development Council Seminar this Month

The Inland Northwest Development Council will offer the seminar 'Navigating Laws and Taxes' on March 27, from 11am to 1pm at the Knights of Columbus, 302 E Boone. It will feature a presenter from the Charities Program of the Washington Secretary of State. This program is approved for CFRE Continuing Education. Lunch is provided. SPOMa Opens at the MAC

Spokane Modern Architecture (SPOMa) opened this past weekend at the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture and runs through November 2.

The 25-year period between 1948 and 1973 saw a tremendous amount of architectural creativity in Spokane. Spokane's mid-century architects changed the face of the city and also received national recognition for their efforts. Their work continues to influence even today.

Miso Fresh Asian Restaurant Opens in Spokane

Miso Fresh Asian has opened in the two former Edo Japan locations at Northtown Mall and River Park Square. Owners Jay Underwood, former Spokane Edo Japan owner, and Stephanie Vigil-Underwood, local news anchor on KHQ, are excited to bring this new concept to Spokane with a menu inspired by Southeast Asian street vendors.

"Miso Fresh Asian will offer unique and savory Asian dishes freshly prepared with many healthy options. We have the ability to customize a meal to an individual's tastes, desires, or dietary requirements. The dishes are cooked individually in stir-fry pans over seven gas-fired ranges right in front of the customers," says Jay Underwood. There will also be some traditional Teriyaki items on the menu.

Taste Spokane to benefit Wishing Star Foundation

Wishing Star's 7th Annual Taste Spokane event will be held on Friday, March 15 from 6 to 10pm at Northern Quest Resort & Casino. This food, dessert, wine, beer and spirits tasting will feature more than 32 local vendors, raffles, live music, more all in support of Wishing Star. This event is age 21 and over.

Get Uncorked! Empower Women through Transitions and NAWBO

The National Association of Women Business Owners Inland Northwest is hosting their 6th Annual Wine Tasting Fundraising Event, UnCorked! on April 19 at the Chateau Rive. Tickets are $45 in advance or $55 at the door. Ten percent of proceeds go to Transitions, a local nonprofit that works to end poverty and homelessness for women and children in Spokane.

Spokane Valley Chamber Government Action Meeting tomorrow
