Hayden Chamber introduces new logo

This summer, the Hayden Chamber of Commerce hired Tran Creative to design a new logo. The new Hayden Chamber of Commerce logo captures the 'Gateway to Recreation'. It conveys nature, outdoors, mountain peaks, water, splash of life, and recreation. Tran Creative's designers also stylized the mark into a letter 'h' using the yellow and green shapes. The four color palette is symbolic of community. Blue is for majestic lake of Hayden. Yellow is for fun activities and recreation. Green captures the nature aspect and fresh ideas. Orange means innovation and passion for making this community a great town to live, work, and play.

The new logo will be implemented onto all communications and marketing pieces. For more information, visit www.haydenchamber.org.

'The Welcome' event presents unique opportunity to hear from, and support, local veterans

With Veterans Day coming on November 11th, a newly-formed group of local volunteers is hosting a first-time event to bring together veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) with members of the community who can welcome them 'back,' aiding in their healing process and showing our community's support for members of the military.

'The Welcome: A Public Listening' will take place on Saturday, November 9, 7:30pm at the Unitarian Church, 4340 W. Fort George Wright Dr. A group of 15 veterans will have spent the previous four days in an intensive retreat that focuses on using the creative arts to help veterans remember, understand and reshape their war trauma. During The Welcome event, they will share their stories in a unique performance that is open to the public. By sharing their personal stories through songs, poetry, or paintings, veterans charter a unique healing process.

Warrior Songs founder Jason Moon will emcee The Welcome and perform his music, featuring lyrics by veterans. Admission is $20 and free to veterans and their families. All of the proceeds go towards funding Healing Retreats. This event is an opportunity for community members to learn more about PTSD and to assist veterans in their recovery.

While PTSD is a nationwide epidemic, the event acknowledges those suffering on a local level. It generates a compassionate, more harmonious community between non-veterans and veterans through emotional and financial support. Because the retreats are free for veterans, funding for this organization is vital.

Individuals who would like to support the Spokane retreat can make a tax-deductible donation for Warrior Songs at warriorsongs.org/donate. More information can be found at www.WarriorSongsSpokane.org.

Local Dentists Pay $1 Per Pound to Collect Candy for Our Troops

It's that time of year, time when the sheer abundance of candy starts to wreak havoc on young teeth.

This Halloween, South Hill Pediatric Dentistry is leading the anti-decay movement by giving away dollars in exchange for cavity-provoking candy. Trick-or-treaters can bring their excess candy to South Hill Pediatric Dentistry and receive $1 per pound. Candy will be collected in exchange for cash the day after Halloween, Nov 1st, from 2pm to 5pm at South Hill Pediatric Dentistry, 2020 E. 29th Ave. Parents can also drop off candy at the dentist office the week of Nov 4-9, although they won't be paid for candy that week. The candy will then be shipped to troops overseas through Treats 2 Troops. Kids can also bring in handmade cards or letters to send along to the troops.

South Hill Pediatric Dentistry will also be doing a public 'Trick or Treat' at their office on Halloween from 1-3 pm. These treats will be tooth-friendly. For more info visit South Hill Pediatric Dentistry on Facebook.
