Ben Klundt has joined the investment team at Ten Capital

Ben Klundt, a highly-respected advisor has joined the financial investment firm of Ten Capital Investment Advisors. White's Boots sells to Portland shoe manufacturer

For nearly 100 years White's boots has been making high quality work boots in Spokane. The company moved here in 1915 after being founded in Virginia in the 1850's and then moving to St. Maries in 1902. With brothers Gary and Skip March retiring, they have announced the sale of the business to Lacrosse Footwear, a Portland shoe manufacturer that makes the Danner line of boots.

Lacrosse plans to keep the 118 Spokane jobs here and is looking to expand production by adding another production line.


The Well-ness Bar opens in CdA

A juice shop called The Well-ness Bar has opened at 312 N. 4th Street in Coeur d'Alene, using locally sources ingredients ts for their drinks.

Hours are 6am to 6pm, Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm on Saturday and 8am to 1pm on Sunday.

Eric Cook, new dining room manager at Masselow's

Eric Cook formerly head sommelier at Beverly's at the Coeur d'Alene Resort, has been named dining room manager for Maselow's restaurant at Northern Quest Resort and Casino.

New bar, 24 Taps, to open in Heroes and Legends location

Tom Griffiths, a Spokane CPA and former part owner of Heroes and Legends, is opening a new sports bar and restaurant at that location, 830 West Riverside, at Lincoln, called 24 Taps. The opening is planned by August 23rd, the day ESPN will broadcast the EWU vs Sam Houston State game nationally. 24 Taps will offer burgers, sandwiches, nachos as well as local craft beers.

Spokane Bicycle Co. opens at 125 S. Stevens

Steve Loveland, whose name is synonymous with cycling in Spokane, has opened a new shop, Spokane Bicycle Co. at 125 S. Stevens Street. Loveland has operated bike shops in Spokane since 1984, in downtown and on the South Hill. Most recently he had a bike shop called Steve's on Cannon Street at 145 S. Cannon in Browne's Addition. He was the technical director for the U.S. Olympic bike trials held in Spokane in 1984 and 1988.

Spokane Bicycle Co offers bicycles and cycling accessories as well as repairs and service. The hours are 11 am to 2 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. The phone number is 509-747-5220.


Cenex Zip Trip and Spokane Community raise nearly $38,000 for school supplies

The Cenex Zip Trip Stores in the greater Spokane area raised a record $37,980 to provide backpacks and school supplies for the Salvation Army's Backpack & School Supply Distribution. The Salvation Army will host its annual back to school drive on Thursday, August 21, from 9am to 6pm at the Salvation Army Community Center, 222 E Indiana. Youth grades K-12 will receive a backpack with all the school supplies recommended by the school district. Note that this is a first come, first served basis. Photo ID, proof of address, child ID are needed.

The Salvation Army expects to distribute 5,000 backpacks on August 21st, which is 1,000 more than the previous year. The Salvation Army backpack distribution is one of the largest in the country. Cenex Zip Trip ran their annual Backpacks For Kids Campaign at area stores throughout the month of July. Any customer who donated $1 or more received a coupon good for a free 20oz soda on their next visit. The Cenex Zip Trip store in Coeur d'Alene will donate $1,377 to The Salvation Army Kroc Center for their backpack distribution held on August 28, from 4 to 6pm.

Spokane SCORE Chapter 180 presents their next workshop, How to Write a Business Plan, this Wednesday, August 13 from 8:30am to 12:30pm. Every Business Needs a Solid Plan.
