City of Spokane & Spokane Arts Team Up On 2015 Urban Design Awards

The City of Spokane and Spokane Arts have partnered on the 2015 Urban Design Awards. The Spokane Mayor's Urban Design Awards are a biennial celebration of architecture, urban and landscape design that shape our city and region. They recognize projects that contribute to Spokane's quality of life through good urban design and highlight the importance of creative thought, technical proficiency, and the relationship of good urban design to our city's economic health and overall well-being.

"Spokane is defined in part by how it is experienced through its many varying lenses and attractive features that include beautiful architecture, historical buildings, plazas, parks, and landscapes," Mayor David Condon said. "The Urban Design Awards encourage and recognize the talents of those who add to this sense of identity and place by sharing their creativity in the public places we all enjoy."

The City's Design Review Board will evaluate submissions and make recommendations to the Mayor's office. The Awards will be presented in late October as part of the closing party for Create Spokane Arts Month. The call for entries is open through August 14 at Midnight.

Visit smuda.spokanearts.org to submit, view 2013 awardees and to learn more about the qualities that contribute to good urban design.
