Bernardo Wills Architects wins major award for CdA's McEuen Park



Bernardo Wills Architects has won a 2015 Merit Award in the General Design Category from the Idaho/Montana Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects in recognition of its landscape architecture design for the comprehensive redevelopment of McEuen Park in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. The prestigious award honors outstanding projects throughout Idaho and Montana that are deemed to reach the top tier in excellence.

As a member of Team McEuen, Bernardo Wills led the park planning and landscape architecture effort that transformed the underutilized facility into a vibrant community asset. Completed in 2014, the redevelopment of the 20-acre lakefront park features a street-front promenade, a grand plaza and waterfront gathering area, an open grass amphitheater, an interactive playground and splash pad, tennis and basketball courts, scenic paved trails, a veterans' memorial tree and memorial court, significant public art installations, a dog park and a park donor wall. The makeover also includes the incorporation of the Centennial Trail within the park as well as a new irrigation system, plantings and site furnishings.

Museum open extended days this week

The Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture will be open additional days, today and tomorrow from 10 am to 5 pm so you can see the NATURE CONNECTS: Lego Brick Sculptures, and experience Campbell House decorated for the holidays.

INB's Randy Fewell retiring



Northwest Bancorporation Inc. has announced that Randy Fewel will retire as president and CEO, six months earlier than previously announced, now effective Dec. 31. Russell Lee, president and CEO of INB, will take over as head of the parent company.

Kathy Barnard back at University of Idaho

Kathy Barnard, a graduate of the University of Idaho returns to the Moscow campus January 19 as the Executive Director of the Office of Alumni Relations and the University of Idaho Alumni Association. She was previously the Executive Director of University Communications at Washington State University.

Accounting firm Anastasi, Moore & Martin buys 6th floor of Hutton Building



Anastasi, Moore & Martin, an accounting firm which has grown from five employees to 42 in just 12 years, has purchased the sixth floor of the Hutton Building in downtown Spokane. The seller was STCU. The firm will take over all 9,200 square feet of the Hutton Building's sixth floor.

CPAs Paul Anastasi and James Moore started the firm in 2003 with three other employees. CPA Scott Martin joined as an owner in 2012. Now the firm employs 24 CPAs, 14 other accountants, and four support staffers. Its gross revenue will total approximately $4.5 million in 2015, compared with $550,000 just 12 years ago.

Providence Health to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Providence Health has planned events honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 18, at Providence Holy Family or Sacred Heart. Hear from Reverend Percy 'Happy' Watkins as he delivers the famous 'I Have a Dream' speech first heard in 1963 in Washington, DC, on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial.

Times and locations are at Providence Holy Family Hospital, Health Education Center, Noon - 1 pm and Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center, Mother Joseph Room, L3, 3-4 pm.

The free event, sponsored by Providence Health Care, Mission Services, will also have music and refreshments. No registration required.

Red Lion Inn & Suites Bothell Opens in Washington State



Red Lion Hotels Corporation has announced the Red Lion Inn & Suites Bothell in Washington has completed its conversion to the brand. It will continue to be operated by an affiliate of GF Management. Located in Western Washington just east of I-405, the hotel with recently renovated lobby and public areas, features an all-suites concept which includes a kitchenette and living space, in addition to the large sleeping area. The hotel also has an indoor pool, a fitness center and complimentary Wi-Fi and breakfast.

Trentwood Storage has New Ownership

Jeff Ottmar of SVN Cornerstone recently brokered the sale of Trentwood Self Storage. The facility consists of 5 buildings and 129 self storage units. The facility was constructed in 2007. Jeff Ottmar represented the seller, Trentwood Storage, Inc. Pat Mutzel, of Colliers International, represented the buyer, Sharp Family, LLC.

GU's Jundt Art Museum celebrates 20 years

In celebration of its 20th anniversary year, the Jundt Art Museum at Gonzaga University opens the exhibition 'Fifty Masterworks from the Print Collection of the Jundt Art Museum' on Saturday, January 9. The exhibition runs through April 2. A free public reception will be held from 4-9 pm on Friday, February 5. This special display features 50 significant works on paper by 50 noteworthy artists. These works, including lithographs, screenprints, engravings, etchings, and other prints, are all drawn from Gonzaga's permanent collection, which includes more than 4,500 pieces. These prints demonstrate the distinctive strength of the collection and complement the museum's facilities for academic research.

The exhibition highlights expert print technicians such as John Taylor Arms, Gerald Leslie Brockhurst, Kathe Kollwitz, and James Abbott McNeill Whistler. The show also presents work by some of the most important names in Western art history, including Marc Chagall, Eugene Delacroix, Francisco Goya, Pablo Picasso, Rembrandt van Rijn, and Andy Warhol, among others.
