University District Community Open House Sept 6

Community members interested in the possibilities unlocked by the upcoming University District Gateway Bridge and related development areas are invited to help shape a vision for how these key links can further integrate The University District. Feedback on high-level design elements will be sought through various means and local leaders will be present to answer questions and engage in ongoing dialog.

The University District Development Association (UDDA) is hosting an open house from 4-6pm on Tuesday, September 6, at the offices of Stay Alfred at 123 East Sprague Avenue in Spokane. Community members are also invited to explore a series of design boards and provide feedback via this online survey whether or not they can attend the September 6 event.

UDDA board members, representing a range of academic institutions, community and business interests, will be present to discuss current approaches to redevelopment and listen to suggestions from the public. Feedback gathered at this open house will be incorporated into input provided by stakeholders through a recent series of listening sessions hosted by the UDDA. These ideas will be synthesized into a collective vision of what is possible and revealed at the 2016 University District Magazine release party this October during University District month.

Since the completion of the original University District Strategic Master Plan in 2004, many significant new developments have taken place within the district. The new Gateway Bridge will serve the greater Spokane region for many generations. Construction is slated to begin in spring 2017 and is scheduled for completion in 2018.
