Five Guys Burgers & Fries opens in Lincoln Heights

There is a lot of excitement at the new Five Guys Burgers & Fries restaurant in Lincoln Heights at 2525 E. 29th. Since opening last week the restaurant, which is in the former Pizza Hut location, has been packed with customers, and if that keeps up, the franchise owner says he will open another restaurant here by the first of the year. William Sheffield plans to have a total of five Five Guys outlets in Spokane. He owns the franchise rights for Five Guys for all of Montana and eastern Washington. The Kalispel and Missoula locations he opened last year are both exceeding projections. Sheffield is also looking at possible locations in Tri-Cities and Yakima as well. The South Hill Spokane restaurant has hired about 30 full- and part-time employees serving hamburgers, hot dogs, other sandwiches and fries. The burgers are made by hand, the old fashioned way with fresh beef and the fries are cut from fresh potatoes.

Pool World buys building and plans to move its central store.

Pool World, Inc., with four stores in the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene area, has purchased a building at 5710 East Sprague, and will move its central store there in January. The 10,800 square foot building, which formerly housed Dick's Suzuki, is on the north side of Sprague at the driveway to Home Depot and Costco. Pool World's Central store is currently located at 4808 E. Sprague Avenue (across from Costco).

Pool World was started by Kerry and Lyla Henderson in February 1976 at the Spokane Valley location, 13524 E. Sprague, and has grown to four retail locations in the Inland Northwest, three stores in the Spokane area and one in Coeur d'Alene. The acquisition of the new central store location is the latest in a long list of recent remodels and expansions for the company. Pool World opened the Coeur d'Alene location in 2004. They remodeled their North Spokane location on Country Homes Boulevard in 2005. The Central Spokane location was expanded and remodeled in 2006. The Spokane Valley location exterior was remodeled in late 2004, and has just recently undergone an interior remodel and expansion during 2007, 2008 and 2009. The North Spokane location was also expanded in 2009.

Pool World is this area's exclusive dealer for Watkins Manufacturing, the maker of Hot Spring Spas, the worlds number one selling brand of Spas. They also sell other Watkins Spa products including Limelight, Tiger River, Hot Spot, Solana and Caldera. In addition, they offer a full line of pool and spa care products, accessories and water toys; barbecue grills and accessories, patio heaters and furniture; as well as saunas and tanning beds.

The company is also the Spokane area's leading pool contractor with an installation history of more than 1,250 pools in the region. Pool World installs residential vinyl-lined and gunite swimming pools, as well as commercial and municipal gunite swimming pools. These installations include the some of the largest Aquatics Facilities in this region, the Kalispel Wellness Center in Usk Washington and the Spokane Valley YMCA. Pool World was also the designer and builder of the region's largest new outdoor pool in 50 years, Spokane County Northside Aquatics Center in 2005. They were also the pool contractor for the Davenport Hotel Tower.

Pool World also operates a full service department that focuses on service, maintenance, repair and renovation of commercial and residential swimming pools and spas. Twenty to thirty vehicles head into the field daily to provide professional service to pools and spas in northeastern Washington and Northern Idaho. The website is www.poolworld.biz.
