Spokane's Chaps restaurant and bakery on national TV show



Chapsgirl Celeste Shaw's popular restaurant Chaps and bakery Cake, will be featured on Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" Monday, November 1, at 7 pm our time. Be sure to check local listings as schedules change. This past August, Guy Fieri and his film crew spent a couple of days filming the unique restaurant in Latah Valley. Scott Nelson is general manager at Savory

Scott Nelson, formerly the assistant general manager and food and beverage director at the Spokane Club is the new general manager for Savory restaurant and lounge which opens at 1314 South Grand, in the former Blockbuster Video store building early next month. They're putting the finishing touches on the new restaurant and finalizing their staff positions.

7th Annual Red Shoe Event set for December 3

The American Advertising Federation Spokane will host their 7h Annual Red Shoe Event on Friday, December 3rd at Hamilton Studio, 1427 W Dean, Spokane, WA. Doors open at 6:30pm. Live auction begins at 7:30pm. The Red Shoe Event benefits the Toni M. Robideaux Scholarship Fund, which was established to encourage local college students to continue studying the arts. Since 2004, the American Advertising Federation Spokane has awarded $30,000 in scholarship funds from the event.

This years' event includes a live auction, dessert, hors d'oeuvres, and an opportunity to socialize with some of the region's finest local artists, while viewing their remarkable pieces. The live auction will start at 7:30 pm. The auction will feature both contemporary and modern art, along with unfinished furniture embellished by local design professionals. Over the years, this one-of-a-kind event has been very successful for the patrons, as well as the local artists who will receive 75 percent of the sale of their pieces.

Fore! Women golf shop is moving to 5005 N. Division, next to Wide World of Golf. They have to be out of their current space at 122 S. Monroe by 1 November and this week they're have a 20% off sale on selected items so they won't have to move as much merchandise. We'll keep you posted on the opening date of the new location. Heather Hanley to open new store called reSkued.

Heather Hanley is opening a new store! reSkued will be the Tin Roof and Concept Home's unique twist on clearance and consignment. They're using an old warehouse at 1702 E. Riverside and repurposing it to be a new store. reSkued will feature an ever-changing inventory of scratched, dented and discontinued merchandise as well as carefully selected consignment pieces. Open Tuesdays and Thursdays 10am-6pm as well as the second weekend of every month. reSkued will have clearance items from both of Hanley's other stores. The Inland NW Business Travel Association is holding their annual Harvest Moon Auction and HalloWine Tasting event this Friday, October 22 from 6 to 9pm at The Mirabeau Park Hotel & Convention Center. INDABA Coffee Celebrates 1-Year Anniversary

INDABA Coffee has announced plans to celebrate its first anniversary of opening its coffee bar operation at 1425 W. Broadway. Launched on November 9, 2009, INDABA offers Italian-style espresso, French pressed coffee, locally-baked pastries, and artisan deli sandwiches in the West Central neighborhood of Spokane. The coffee bar is located in the newly-constructed Walnut Corners housing development on 1425 West Broadway. INDABA shares a commercial space with The Book Parlor, a non-profit bookstore.

In celebration, INDABA will be holding an all-day event on Saturday, November 6, 2010, from 7am until 9:00pm. All espresso drinks will be 20% off regular price and French-pressed coffee will be free. Local art will be on display, a sampling of Bumper Crop Coffee will be available for cupping, and local musicians The Perennials and Nate Greenburg will perform in the evening. INDABA will also be supporting its West Central neighbors through partnering with Our Place Ministries, a food and clothing bank, by offering an additional discount to anyone who brings in a donation item. Christopher S. Crago joins Paine Hamblen

GSI presents Social Media 101

"Soup for the Soul" serves up healing during October

"Soup for the Soul" is a charity event that is taking place in the month of October to raise money for the Providence Sacred Heart Arts in Healing project. Each Wednesday through October, The Steelhead Bar and Grille, Morty's Tap and Grille, and Fat Daddy's Pizza are all participating and donating 50% of the proceeds from their soup sales to this effort. Soup for the Soul encourages the business community to come have lunch or dinner at one of these locations, enjoy some daily fresh made soups and support the effort.
