Apply for a once in a lifetime professional exchange to India

Here is a special opportunity for business people to apply for a Month-Long Professional Exchange to India. Rotary Clubs in our area are seeking four outstanding professionals, preferably age 25-40, to visit Bangalore, India from January 30th to March 2, 2012, as part of the Group Study Exchange program of The Rotary Foundation. Bangalore is a thriving city often referred to as India's Silicon Valley.

Team members are hosted in the homes of Bangalore Rotarians. They receive personalized tours of cultural and business sites, meet various professional counterparts, and give presentations to Rotary clubs and other groups about the U.S, Pacific Northwest and their own profession.

The Rotary Foundation provides a round trip air ticket, lodging and meals. Team members pay for personal and incidental expenses including immunizations and visas. Applicants must have two years professional experience. The purpose of the Group Study Exchange is to promote international understanding and goodwill through person-to-person contact.

Members of Rotary and their descendants are not eligible to apply. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity that four very fortunate individuals from our area will experience. It could be you so apply now. Applications are due Sept. 9. Interviews will be Sept. 18.

For more information or to download an application, go to their web site or call Team Leader Michelle Lee at (509) 690-7517.

97th Annual Spokane Tribal Pow Wow in Wellpinit

The Spokane Tribe's annual Pow Wow held on the Spokane Indian Reservation in Wellpinit, Washington is scheduled to begin on September 1, and run through September 5. With the cancellation of the Riverfront Park Pow Wow held in downtown Spokane, sponsored by the area Tribes including the Spokane Tribe, has led to some confusion regarding the Pow Wow held in Wellpinit. The 'Wellpinit Pow Wow' also known as the 'Spokane Tribal Pow Wow' will be held in Wellpinit on the Spokane Indian Reservation beginning September 1.

The Pow Wow will kick off with the coronation of the Spokane Tribal Royalty and children's Pow Wow at 7:00pm on Thursday, September 1st. Traditional dancing, singing and drumming will continue at the Wellpinit Fairgrounds through Monday, September 5th. Other activities will include food vendors, arts/crafts vendors, traditional tribal stick games and a live auction. The Spokane Tribe's Annual Indian Art Auction will begin at 4pm on Saturday, September 3rd.

The tribal event is free of charge and open to the public.
