Clare View Seniors Project expanding

— Spokane Housing Ventures, a nonprofit organization that helps build housing for limited-income families and seniors, plans to break ground this spring on 60 apartments as part of its Clare View Seniors project, at 3146 E. 44th Avenue. The estimated construction cost is $5.8 million. The five-acre site is just east of the Shopko store at Regal and 44th. Hayden-based Whitewater Creek are co-developers. They are also working in a joint venture on a 120-apartment complex farther south near 55th and Palouse Highway.

The new project will have 10 one-bedroom units and 50 two-bedroom units in five separate buildings. It will also have a community building and 90 parking spaces. Leasing will start by the end of the year.

Dollar Depot opens in Hillyard with 5,000 items at $1 or less Gary and Megan Chappell, have opened Hillyard Dollar Depot, at 3121 E. Francis Avenue in a building that formerly housed a video rental store. The 3,000 square foot store will offer about 5,000 items that sell for $1 or less.
