Step UP and Go, 85210

— 85210 are the new numbers you need to know for better health. Today, Spokane Mayor David Condon will proclaim Fall 2012 as 'Step UP and Go for -'85210' season and encourage all citizens to increase their physical activity, make healthy food choices, and replace sugary drinks with water.

85210 is a new community campaign of Step UP and Go that gives people 5 easy things to do every day; get 8 hours of sleep, eat 5 fruits and vegetables, limit recreational screen time to no more than 2 hours, get 1 hour of physical activity, and don't drink sugary drinks...0.

Nearly two-thirds of children and adults in Washington State are overweight or obese. The associated medical costs and loss of productivity costs are staggering. Obesity is a contributing cause of diabetes, heart disease, some cancers, bone and joint problems, depression, and fatigue, and it negatively affects overall quality and longevity of life.

The good news is we can take charge of our own health. Community campaigns like 85210 are encouraging people around the country to work together for better health. Citizens can find FREE downloadable resources at www.stepupandgo.org and use activity trackers as motivation to get moving. 85210, the numbers you need to know!
