Top Healthcare Award for Spokane Guilds' School's medical director

— Dr. Robert Piston, medical director for the Spokane Guilds' School & Neuromuscular Center (SGS&NMC), received the 'Advocate of the Year' Award from Sacred Heart Children's Hospital at its 'Kids at Heart' luncheon on February 26.

"Our selection committee felt that Dr. Piston qualifies as a true 'unsung' hero," said Susan Stacey, executive director at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital, in a press release. "He's one of those people who simply thinks he's doing his job, when in fact he is dramatically impacting the lives of children in our community, especially those with special needs. Rob has a heartfelt compassion and concern for all the children and families he works with and takes pleasure in being part of their accomplishments. Those of us in the medical community are proud to call him a colleague."
