MAC receives David Douglas Award of Exhibit Excellence

— The Washington Museum Association (WMA) is recognizing the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture (MAC) with an Award of Excellence for the David Douglas: A Naturalist at Work exhibit. The MAC will be honored during a special presentation at the 2013 Annual WMA Conference, Museums at the Center of Community: Representative, Reflective and Relevant in Ellensburg, Washington June 12th-14th, 2013.

The WMA recognizes outstanding achievement in the field of museum work by presenting Awards of Excellence annually at its conference. The award year runs from January through December 2012. To be eligible, the nominee must have exhibited the ability to set standards of leadership through outstanding service, established precedent, fulfilled mission and purpose, showed marked improvement, and provided an extended level of service to the community served.

The exhibit Project Director was Marsha Rooney, Senior Curator of History at the MAC along with Jack and Claire Nisbet, Guest Curators. All involved with the development of this exhibit followed clear goals for audience awareness, compelling graphics, interactive areas, engaging labels, and conservation specifications.

The award winning exhibition is at the MAC through August 25. It then will be packed up to travel to Tacoma to be on display at Washington State History Museum from September 21, 2013 to February 23, 2014.
