George Nethercutt Foundation Announces 2013 Citizenship Tournament

The nonprofit George Nethercutt Foundation announces its 2013 Citizenship Tournament for Eastern Washington, which will be open to all 4th, 8th and 12th graders in all public and private schools. All entrants who compete in one round of the Tournament and complete 5 of 15 citizenship tasks will receive a valuable prize.

The Tournament will commence in September 2013 and conclude in early December 2013. Finals will be held in Spokane. Winning students, a parent and engaged teachers will receive a trip to Washington, DC in 2014 to meet Members of Congress, government officials and other national leaders. Winners will also receive up to $10,000 in scholarships and other valuable prizes.

A 10-year former Member of Congress, Foundation Chairman George Nethercutt will visit area schools to encourage students and teachers to participate in the Tournament to learn more about American history, government, economics and foreign policy, and in the process become engaged citizens. Honorary Co-Chairs of the Tournament are Rep. Timm Ormsby and Rep. Kevin Parker.

For more information, contact the Foundation's Executive Director, Donna Halvorson at www.nethercuttfoundation.org. Entry forms and other Tournament information may also be found at the website.
