Traveling Vietnam Wall coming to Spokane on October

Many just call it "The Wall". The AVTT Traveling Vietnam Wall, a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington D.C., will be displayed in Spokane October 3rd though 6th, marking the 40th anniversary of the United States' official withdrawal from Vietnam.

This is the largest traveling wall display, measuring 360 feet in length and 8 feet high at its apex, presented by the American Veterans Traveling Tribute and the Texas Freedom Tribute. "The AVTT Traveling Wall" is being sponsored locally by The Fairmount Memorial Association, and will make its only Eastern Washington appearance at Greenwood Memorial Terrace at 211 North Government Way in Spokane.

This exact replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall contains 58,195 names of those who died in the Vietnam conflict, including 84 service members from Spokane.

Denny York, President and CEO of Fairmount Holdings Inc. said, "We expect upwards of 30,000 – 40,000 people will visit the exhibit during its 4 day appearance in Spokane. People will come from as far away as Montana, Northern Oregon and Western Washington. There is no charge to visit "The Wall" which will be fully lit and open 24 hours each day so visitation can happen no matter what a person's schedule is. We'll also have complimentary buses stationed to take visitors to and from the exhibit."

Also on display will be one of 4 exact replicas of the Liberty Bell, made from the original Liberty Bell casting. The Liberty Bell will ring daily, each time the names of Spokane's fallen heroes are read aloud at The Wall.

Major sponsorship opportunities are available to promote your business's support of veterans. Contact Denny York with the Fairmount Cemeteries at 509-326-3800 for more sponsorship information.
