Louie Davenport tribute today at Riverside Memorial Park Cemetery

Today, a new monument will be dedicated in honor of Louis Davenport at Riverside Memorial Park cemetery, just in time to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the opening of the Davenport Hotel. Riverside Memorial Park on Government way will be hosting the unveiling of the monument on Monday, July 28th at 2:00 pm.

This event is sponsored by Fairmount Memorial Association in cooperation with the Spokane Police Department History Book Committee, the Spokane Law Enforcement Museum, Jonas Babcock Chapter, the Daughters of the American Revolution and the family of Louis Davenport. Following the ceremony there will be a reception at the Heritage Funeral Home with desserts provided by the Davenport Hotel.

I attended the function.. Tasty desserts and refreshing beverages were nice. Meet ladies that worked there years and years ago. I first visit was 1979 when I came from Kansas City for my husband to pursue a job at the Spokesman Review We flew into Spokane and were immediately taken to the Davenport. Shortly after the hotel closed. My son worked there from 2005 to 2007. I always take visitors there for a tour. And their Sunday Brunch is out of this world.
