Cenex Zip Trip and Spokane Community raise nearly $38,000 for school supplies

— The Cenex Zip Trip Stores in the greater Spokane area raised a record $37,980 to provide backpacks and school supplies for the Salvation Army's Backpack & School Supply Distribution. The Salvation Army will host its annual back to school drive on Thursday, August 21, from 9am to 6pm at the Salvation Army Community Center, 222 E Indiana. Youth grades K-12 will receive a backpack with all the school supplies recommended by the school district. Note that this is a first come, first served basis. Photo ID, proof of address, child ID are needed.

The Salvation Army expects to distribute 5,000 backpacks on August 21st, which is 1,000 more than the previous year. The Salvation Army backpack distribution is one of the largest in the country. Cenex Zip Trip ran their annual Backpacks For Kids Campaign at area stores throughout the month of July. Any customer who donated $1 or more received a coupon good for a free 20oz soda on their next visit. The Cenex Zip Trip store in Coeur d'Alene will donate $1,377 to The Salvation Army Kroc Center for their backpack distribution held on August 28, from 4 to 6pm.
