A new dawn for Dawn of the Donut

— The former Dawn of the Donut shop at 3402 North Division, which closed recently, has new life, and new owners. Joe and Amber Owens, who also own Celebrations Bakery which has two locations, in the Garland neighborhood and in Spokane Valley, bought the zombie themed donut shop and have changed the name to Casual Friday Donuts. Even though the donut shop was essentially risen from the dead, the zombies are gone and it's now a family friendly business.

They have new donut offerings such as a green and blue "12th Man" donut, a Persian cinnamon rolls, fried croissant with or without raspberry filling and other "gourmet" items. They have also updated the look of the shop with new paint and a granite counter top. They plan on adding outdoor seating.

Casual Friday Donuts' hours are 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.
