New building at Felts Field to house Honor Point museum

— Last Thursday, at Felts Field Airport, EFT LLC, a local company, held a ground breaking and announced the construction of The Felts Field General Aviation Flight Center, a 40,000 square foot multi-tenant complex that will be home to Western Aviation and the Honor Point Military and Aerospace Museum.

Honor Point leadership and volunteers have been working for the past 15 years to find a home for artifacts that were part of the former Fairchild Heritage Collection, which was housed for several years at Fairchild AFB. The effort to preserve, store and seek a new venue began when the U.S. Air Force decided to remove museums such as the Fairchild display from all bases around the country. Tim Gump, the owner of Western Aviation, approached the Honor Point Board to begin conversations of having a portion of the building to begin the museum project. Construction of the $2.8 million Felts Field General Aviation Flight Center will begin in May and is scheduled for completion by year's end.
