Cheryl Strayed named Keynote Speaker at YWCA Women of Achievement Luncheon Oct.1

— The YWCA of Spokane Announces Bestselling Author Cheryl Strayed as Guest Speaker for 2015 Women of Achievement Luncheon, to be held October 1 from 11:30am to 1:30pm at the Spokane Convention Center.

Strayed is author of #1 New York Times bestselling memoir 'Wild', which tells the amateur hiker's tale as she struggles to find inner peace during her 1,000-mile journey along the Pacific Crest Trail. Her story was featured as Oprah Winfrey's first selection for Oprah's Book Club 2.0, and inspired the 2014 release of the movie adaptation of 'Wild'.

For 33 years, YWCA of Spokane has celebrated high achieving women in the community at this annual luncheon. Established with the goal of increasing community awareness and appreciation for the diverse contributions of women leaders in Spokane, this luncheon has honored over 200 women in the region. All proceeds raised by this event directly benefit the YWCA's services for domestic violence victims and their children.
