Johnna Boxley retiring today as Spokane Convention Center General Manager

— Johnna Boxley, General Manager of the Spokane Convention Center and INB Performing Arts Center (PAC), retires effective today. Stephanie Curran, currently the Assistant General Manager, will assume the role of General Manager for both facilities.

Boxley has been the Convention Center General Manager since 2000 and with the SPFD since 2003. After previous experience in both the business and education sectors, she became intrigued by the event and convention industry. During Boxley's tenure, the Spokane Convention Center has become a productive economic engine for the region, bringing millions of dollars into the local economy. She has overseen thousands of successful events, two major expansions (tripling the size of the venue), a renovation of the INB PAC and has been instrumental in securing commissions for over $500,000 in local art for the Convention Center site. Additionally, she has helped secure environmentally conscious LEED Certifications and guided the 'green' practices implementation at the Convention Center.

Boxley received both her B.A. in Parks and Recreation and M.S. in Education at Eastern Washington University. She previously worked for the City of Spokane Parks and Recreation Department and as an adjunct professor at Eastern Washington University and Spokane Community Colleges. Boxley earned the industry's Certified Facilities Executive (CFE) designation in 2009 and has been active in the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) on many regional and national committees throughout her career, most recently serving on the Convention Center/Expo Hall Committee for two terms.
