Blood Center Foundation announces new board member and 4 grants

— The Blood Center Foundation welcomed Itron's Judi Baggarley, CPP, SPHR, Senior Director of Talent Management, to its Board of Directors and approved four grants at its April 20 meeting:

1. $15,000 education grant to Mobius Spokane for their capital campaign and Bodies Human, Anatomy in Motion 2016 health education exhibit.

2. $15,000 education grant for the Inland Northwest Blood Center Elementary/Middle School STEM Leadership Grants Program.

3. $2,900 education grant for the Inland Northwest Blood Center 2016-17 High School HERO Program.

4. $2,000 Jean Merrill Education Fund grant for the Inland Northwest Blood Center Therapeutics Department attendance at the 2016 American Society for Apheresis Annual Meeting.

These new grants, totaling $34,900, bring Blood Center Foundation of the Inland Northwest total giving to $$229,000 since the organization launched in November, 2013. The organization is the fundraising arm of the Inland Northwest Blood Center, raising funds and investing funds in the 150-mile radius around Spokane including North Idaho, the Columbia Basin and the Lewis-Clark Valley.
