University District accepting application for board positions

— The University District is welcoming applicants for board of directors' positions. Prospective directors serve on two boards for the non-profit University District Development Association (UDDA) and the University District Public Development Authority (UDPDA).

The University District is a live/work/play confluence of innovation, discovery, entrepreneurship, scholarship and neighborhood revitalization. The University District offers opportunities to promote economic development, smart urban growth, environmental restoration, historic preservation, arts and culture, recreation, and state of the art transportation. Connecting the core strengths of The University District's educational institutions with regional industry expertise, The University District acts as an urban laboratory for the creation of new knowledge and applied, community-engaged research, resulting in increased regional prosperity and an improved quality of life.

Given the multifaceted opportunities emerging in The University District, the board is looking to fill the following positions (all three-year terms from January 1, 2018-December 31, 2020):
- At-large
- Commercial development
- Small business
- Transportation

Directors will be selected in part according to their demonstrated level of engagement with the University District and additional skills, perspectives and the resources they bring to the board (e.g., experience with medical business or financial institutions). Elected directors may serve two consecutive terms.

To be considered for an open board seat, applications must be submitted by Friday, October 13 at 9am. The application link is eSurv.org?u=UDBoardApply. Note that pursuant to the state's Public Records Act (RCW 42.56), applications submitted for board positions are public records and may be subject to public disclosure.

The University District board plans to vote on the board positions on November 7 and will post the names of the elected directors on The University District website after the meeting.
