Dorothy Dean Home Cooking Show on Saturday

For five decades, Dorothy Dean was a trusted family friend who showed newspaper readers how to put the comfort in comfort food. Long before microwaves, online recipes and 24-hour cooking networks, she was essential, practical and always reliable. She wasn't real. But that didn't make her any less beloved. Dorothy Dean actually was the pen name for the editors who ran The Spokesman-Review's Dorothy Dean Homemakers Service, from 1935 to 1983. The Dorothy Dean column offered budget-friendly recipes that were easy to prepare.

The Dorothy Dean Home Cooking Show is this Saturday, May 12 at the Convention Center with an great lineup of top chefs and authors. You'll meet:

Chad White, who competed on season 13 of Bravo's 'Top Chef' and now owns a restaurant downtown, Zona Blanca.

Laurel Randolph, bestselling author of 'The Instant Pot Electric Pressure Cooker Cookbook: Easy Recipes for Fast & Healthy Meals.' Her just-released book is 'The Instant Pot No Pressure Cookbook.'

John State, Culinary Director for the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, Calif.

Kathleen Flinn, award-winning author of three books, best known for The New York Times best-selling memoir, 'The Sharper Your Knife, the Less You Cry.'

Kate Lebo, author of the cookbook 'Pie School' and co-editor of the anthology 'Pie & Whiskey: Writers Under the Influence of Butter and Booze.'
